Note: If you are happy with Trump’s current choices, you may want to ignore my writing below about the importance of protesting on April 5th and speaking up. As I’ve shared before I won’t shame you for your beliefs —

But I also won’t agree to disagree; Trump’s actions go against my own moral code and belief of what a government’s responsibility is to its people. I won’t only write about politics here, so there are plenty of others things to read about: land restoration and puppies and self-care. You are welcome to share your point of view respectfully below. This is a forum for communication and dialogue, and having hard conversations. But it is also my sacred space of expression, so no abuse or cruelty will be allowed. For those of you who could use some spiritual support:
My long-time mentor Peggy Dylan and I will be hosting a free gathering to share specific tools and support to create a sense of SAFE: Spiritual • Action • Fearless • Empathy
As Peggy shares: Throughout time when darkness and fear would grip humanity, visionaries would be born. People with extraordinary vision, love and compassion who would develop concepts and practices to guide, soothe and empower.
In this webinar we explore some of their stories and teach their practices in order to bring you joy and empower you to not only survive in these times but to thrive through them and be able to be a beacon of light for others.
For those of you that are new to Out of the Fire:
Hi! I’m a lover of fire, creativity, and darkness. This Substack was birthed out of the largest wildfire in New Mexico history — which began three years ago on April 6th with a “controlled burn” — that consumed 1/2 a million acres, devastated communities, and ate 175 acres of forest of our 180 acre wilderness retreat center.
Friends, family, and many hands and hearts are dedicated to help restore the land through planting thousands of seed balls (wildflower seeds nestled in compost and wrapped in clay), finishing building projects, and doing massive erosion control. Next week I’ll share more about our very exciting next experiment in the long process of recovery.
Here are the top three articles to read to get acquainted…
Greetings, dear ones.
Where there is repression, greed, and harm there are beings that rise to inspire our minds, ignite our hearts, and remind us of true power.
Thank the goddess for Cory Booker.
Here are the last few moments of his record-breaking 25 hour, four minute speech on the Senate floor:
On Saturday, April 5th there will be peaceful protests across the country. If you are able, see if there is a rally near you. I’ll be traveling to Santa Fe.
Here is a list of places and ways to support if you can’t join live:
Witnessing History
thank you to K. Starling and We the People Dissent
Today, we witnessed history. As I write these words, Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey has yielded the floor after 25 hours and four minutes, shattering the previous record held by Strom Thurmond.
And listen, I know you may be scared. So am I. But, as Senator Booker reminded us, we cannot afford for our fear to immobilize us. It must be a catalyst for courage, for action, for strength. Though our voices might tremble, we must speak. Though our hands may shake, we must act.
Saturday, April 5 is a nationwide day of action. Across the nation in over 900 sites (view the map and list), millions of us can rise together. Will you be among them? If you are able, I hope you will.
His parting words were a call. “Let’s get in some good trouble.”
Take the floor.
If you can, GO. If your cannot, SUPPORT.

I love this, and yet as I lean into my own sacred truth I have to identify that I am not always able to do/be/act in how I’d like. I would love to march and protest but I can’t. Not because I don’t want to, but because I have physical and mental health limitations that would be exacerbated. I don’t do well in crowds and am claustrophobic, so I would be constantly stimulated or stressed. Physically, I am not only short, but also have dyspraxia, am hard of hearing, recovering from back surgery, and struggle with chronic fatigue. So how do I get to resist? To show solidarity? I rest. I steward. I dance and sing when my body lets me. And I guide. I comfort. I work with young people and remind them of their strength so they can resist. We all have a part to play in making some good trouble even when it feels like we are doing nothing at all.
A friend shared your content with me this afternoon, and I really enjoyed it. These are tough times indeed. Thank you.
